11-8 Maintenance and service
. Always remove the key from the
ignition switch. When the ignition
switch is in the “ON” position,
the cool ing fan may operate
suddenly even when the engine
is stopped.
& When checking or servicing
in the engine compartment
(non-turbo models)

CAUTION
. For models with the drive belt
cover, do not contact the cover
while checking the components
in the engine compartment.
Doing so may cause your hand
to slip off the drive belt cover and
result in an injury.
. Do not touch the oil filter until the
engine has cooled down comple-
tely. Doing so may result in a
burn or other injury. Note that the
oil filter becomes very hot when
the engine is running and re-
mains hot for some time after
the engine has stopped.
& When checking or servicing
in the engine compartment
while the engine is running

WARNING
A running engine can be dangerous.
Keep your fingers, hands, clothing,
hair and tools away from the cooling
fan, belts and any other moving
engine parts. Removing rings,
watches and ties is advisable.
! For all four wheels turning

1) Safety stand
For any maintenance and inspection
performed on AWD models which requires
a running engine and all four wheels
turning, jack up all four wheels or use free
rollers to prevent the vehicle from moving.
Never race the engine or brake suddenly.
! For front wheels turning

The AWD MT models and 5-speed
AT models cannot be changed over
from AWD to FWD. If any mainte-
nance or inspection requires a run-
ning engine and the front wheels
turning with the AWD MT models, be
