! Checking the fluid level when the
fluid is cold
S11AK0102
When the fluid level has to be checked
without time to warm up the automatic
transmission, check to see that the fluid
level is between the low level and full level
on the COLD range. If it is below that
range, add fluid up to the full level. Be
careful not to overfill.
CAUTION
Be careful no t to spill automatic
transmission fluid when adding it.
If automatic transmission fluid
touches the exhaust pipe, it may
cause a bad smell, smoke, and/or a
fire. If automatic transmission fluid
gets on the exhaust pipe, be sure to
wipe it off.
& Recommended fluid
S11AK02
Refer to s12aa10Fluids F12-11.
CAUTION
For 4-speed AT models, you can use
the Dexron III type automatic
transmission fluid only in an emer-
gency if the recommended auto-
matic transmission fluid is unavail-
able. However, if the Dexron III is
used continuously, there will be a
noticeable increase in the vibration
and noise from the automatic trans-
mission. If Dexron III fluid is used
temporarily, change the fluid to the
recommended automatic transmis-
sion fluid as soon as possible.
NOTE
Using any non-specified type of auto-
matic transmission fluid could result in
damage inside the transmission. When
replacing the automatic transmission
fluid, be sure to use the specified type.
