Thecabpowerrelay(onthemachineswithoperatorcab)isattachednearthe
battery(Figure161).Thecabpowerrelayisusedtoprovidecurrenttothe
operatorcabelectricalcircuits.
TestingtheRelays
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Togetaccesstotheglowrelay,removethecontrolpanel.T ogetaccessto
theaccessoryrelayorcabpowerrelay,openthehood.
3.Toensurethatthemachineoperationdoesnotoccurunexpectedly,
disconnectthenegative(-)cablefromthebatteryandthendisconnectthe
positive(+)cablefromthebattery;refertoServicingtheBattery(page6–81).
4.Locatetherelaythatistobetestedanddisconnectthewireharness
connectorsfromtherelay.
Note:Beforetakingsmallresistancereadingswithadigitalmultimeter,short
themultimetertestleadstogether.Themeterdisplaysasmallresistance
value(usually0.5ohmsorless).Thisresistanceisbecauseoftheinternal
resistanceofthemultimeterandtestleads.Subtractthisvaluefromthe
measuredvalueofthecomponentthatyouaretesting.
