Part Number: 314932-001 File name: Ch07.doc
Using the &J Command (Telephone Interface Control)
After the
$M1, $M2,
or
$M4
command has been issued, the
modem checks for the presence of the cellular phone or
noncellular connection depending on the setting of the
&J
command as follows:
&J0
This factory default setting performs autosense, whereby it
detects the presence of a cellular phone or noncellular
connection and dials accordingly. This process may take
several seconds.
&J2
The modem will only dial over the noncellular connection,
thus saving several seconds.
&J3
The modem will only dial over the cellular phone
connection.
Power Management for a Cellular Connection
The modem will not enter Suspend if it is registered with a data-
ready cellular phone.
