Types of Security
Numerous security features protect the computer and the
information stored on it from unauthorized access.
■
Power-On Password
Prevents unauthorized use of the computer when it is turned
on, restarted, or resumed from Suspend or Hibernation.
■
Setup Password
Prevents unauthorized users from changing your computer
configuration through Computer Setup. May also be used by
network administrators to protect and access the configuration
of computers in a network.
■
QuickLock/QuickBlank
Clears the screen and disables the keyboard and other input
devices while the computer is running.
■
DriveLock
Prevents unauthorized use of the hard drive when the
computer is turned on, restarted, or resumed from Hibernation.
Stops an unauthorized user from using your hard drive.
■
Login Password (Windows NT only)
Used to log in to Windows NT. When combined with the
security features above, prevents unauthorized users from
accessing your hard drive. Windows NT has a multiple boot
menu, which can allow users to boot up Windows 3.1 or
Windows 95 and thereby bypass Windows NT security.
