Process monitoring
Overview
To monitor the correct function of the machine, or in case of problems with the part
quality, special activities may be necessary:
➢ Checking or determining and setting building temperature
➢ Determining machine-specific material-dependent shrinkage
➢ Determining machine-specific material-dependent beam offset
To be able to trace actions during the building process as well as changes in the
machine's settings, it is sensible to document the building process.
Checking, determining, setting building temperature
It is necessary to check or re-determine the building temperature
➢ On the usage of pure new powder at the start of a new powder circuit
➢ In case of process problems that can be traced back to an incorrectly adjusted
building temperature
➢ In case of change between different materials
➢ In case of PPP parameter sets as a regular maintenance activity
➢ On initial usage of refreshed powder that has been prepared using the mixing &
qualification station (MQS): before the building process.
