Parts torn out
Parts may be torn out during building, particularly on new layers starting at the edge
of the building area. In case of large areas, the entire exposed layer can be torn out
in the extreme case.
Torn out exposed layer
The cause of this problem can be a building temperature that is not optimum.
In the case of torn out parts / layers of powder, the process chamber and the
recoater blades must be thoroughly cleaned and the optimum building temperature
set.
Cleaning the recoater blades:
1. Cancel building process.
See Operation EOS P 396 manual, section 6, Cancelling building process.
2. Move building platform 50 mm below the building plane:
In the Building platform / Step movement group box, enter -50 in the field and
click the Step movement up / down button.
Depending on the severity of the error, you can terminate the building process or
continue the job after an adjustment.
However, after the adjustment of the job, in some circumstances the full
building height may no longer be available.
Check for the necessary building height prior to starting the job again.
The following procedure describes the adjustment of the job without removal of
the exchangeable frame.
