Generating a sinter box
For small or delicate parts a protective lattice box can be generated and built around
the part using the optional Sinterbox Wizard function. On the one hand this box
makes it easier to find small parts in the machine's exchangeable frame at the end of
the building process, on the other hand groups of parts can be combined in one
sinter box.
1. Select part(s) for which the sinter box is to be generated.
2. On the Scenes tab click the Sinterbox Wizard button.
The Sinterbox Step 1 of 3: Create window appears.
3. Enter properties of the sinter box:
• In the Margin to Part (a) field enter the minimum distance between the
bounding box for the part (simplified rectangular body that encloses the
maximum dimensions of the part) and the sinter box.
EOS recommends the pre-set default values.
• In the Thickness (b) field enter the wall thickness for the sinter box - not
including the top.
EOS recommends the pre-set default values.
• In the Cover Thickness (c) field enter the wall thickness of the top:
EOS recommends the pre-set default values.
• If necessary enter an angle of rotation for the sinter box:
Select the Rotation check box and enter the required angle of rotation in X,
Y or Z direction.
If rotation is not necessary, clear the Rotation check box.
Using the Next button move on to the next step of the Sinter box wizard.
The Sinterbox Step 2 of 3: Perforation window appears.
For EOS machines the pre-set default position is X = 10 mm, Y = 10 mm and
Z = 6 mm.
Note that the usage of sinter boxes will make the building process longer.
