Troubleshooting and maintenance
Troubleshooting
During the building process circumstances may arise in which immediate action is
required and which makes it necessary to interrupt or cancel the building process.
If the front valve and front doors are opened during the building process, the heaters
are switched off automatically.
After the building process has been interrupted, you can page through the layers as
required. As the number of the last layer process is saved automatically on
interruption, the next layer to be exposed is always processed when the building
process is continued.
Process problems due to soiling of the recoater blades or due to coarse particles in
the plastic powder require the cancellation of the building task and subsequent re-
starting of the job.
If the building process is only interrupted in this case, the process chamber will cool
down excessively and as a result jeopardise the rest of the building process.
Machine
The most common mechanical malfunctions on the machine or malfunctions in the
sequence can be identified via error messages in the PSW and rectified.
☞ Troubleshooting, Maintenance and Spare parts EOS P 396 manual, section 3, Error
messages.
In the following in this manual, the process problems with which the operator could
be confronted the most frequently at the start are described.
☞ See also Operation EOS P 396 manual, section 6, Monitoring building process,
rectifying problems.
For reasons of process reliability and parts quality, only interrupt the
building process as long as absolutely necessary.
