Separating the powder when unpacking the parts
To keep the refresh factor as low as possible and to obtain consistent powder quality,
the following rules should be noted on unpacking the parts:
➢ Baked plastic powder (lumps of powder) should be immediately removed and
disposed of when unpacking the parts.
➢ Plastic powder that adheres to the parts should also be immediately removed as
this plastic powder is damaged in the majority of cases.
➢ Plastic powder at the edge of the exchangeable frame should preferably be re-
used.
➢ The plastic powder from the top part of the exchangeable frame should
preferably be re-used.
Against this background, the plastic powder should be coarsely separated on
unpacking such that only the amount required for mixing with the new powder is
left.
If, e. g., the desired refresh factor is 50 % and the volume of the parts built is
approx. 15 %, approx. 35 % of the powder from the exchangeable frame can be
removed based on the rules given above.
On building with materials that are not refreshed, it is not necessary to separate the
powder.
Sieving the powder
The minimum refresh factors stated in the parameter sheet will only provide
good results if the rules given above are followed, otherwise higher refresh
factors will be necessary.
Materials, e. g. PrimeCast
101 and PrimePart
ST PEBA 2301 must be sieved
prior to usage for the first time so that larger particles or thread-like fluff (angel
hair), which could cause process problems, can be removed.
Follow the application instructions for the related material.
