Process-related effects
The geometrical properties of the parts affect the laser sintering process.
Optimisation of the part geometry and effective positioning and orientation of the
parts in the building chamber contribute to improving the part quality.
Along with these factors that can be influenced, process-related phenomena such as
temperature-related shrinkage or distortion must also be taken into account.
Shrinkage
During cooling the part contracts due to physical processes and becomes smaller.
This shrinkage behaviour varies depending on the material used and can be of
varying magnitude in all directions.
