If you are installing only one XFP module, always cover the unoccupied port with a rubber dust cover, which is
shipped with the option card (see Figure 216).
To ensure that your XFP module is undamaged upon installation, you can correlate factory test data with your
installation site test data by consulting the average power reference values shown on the XFP module test data sheet
(Part No. 121074-00) enclosed with your module.
Removing an XFP Module
To remove an XFP module:
1 Attach an ESD-preventive wrist strap to your wrist and connect the metal end to the equipment
rack.
2 Release the handle (bail latch) on the XFP module.
3 Carefully pull the XFP module out of the port.
4 Place the dust covers back into the XFP module connectors.
5 Place the XFP module immediately into an antistatic container to protect it from ESD damage and
dust.
