10.13.1SipandPuffCalibration
Primaryinputoperations,suchasdriving,are
disabledwhenusingthecalibrationtool.Thisis
forsafetyreasonstopreventunintendedoperation
whencalibrating.
Therearethreepressurezonesforeachpressuredirection
(sipandpuff):
•Neutralzone,
•softzoneand
•hardzone.
TheSipandPuffmodule’sresponsetoasiporpuffinput,
dependsonwhichzonethepressurefallswithin:hardor
soft.Pressureswithintheneutralzoneareignored.
Sinceallusershavedifferentcapabilities,theSipandPuff
modulecanbecalibratedtochangethesizeandposition
ofthesezones.Thezonesneedtobesetsothatausercan
controlthewheelchaircomfortablyandconsistently.ASip
andPuffcalibrationtoolisusedtodeterminethepressure
thresholdsthatdenethezones.Thesethresholdsare:
•Minimumlimitforsoftpuff,
•minimumlimitforhardpuff,
•minimumlimitforsoftsipand
•minimumlimitforhardsip.
TocalibratetheSipandPuffmodule,youhavetorecord
pressuremeasurementsfromaseriesofpressuresamples
performedbytheuserandadjustthefourpressure
thresholdsaccordingly.
