(a). Replace belts and straps with 15 or
more broken or loose stitches in a
stitch pattern.
(b). Replace belts and straps with suffi
cient broken or damaged threads so
that the individual threads are not
visible by the naked eye under a
bright light from 8 inches (203 mm)
away.
(c). Replace belts and straps with more
than 15 broken threads in a location
other than the edge.
(d). Replace belts and straps with cuts or
tears on the edge.
(e). Replace belts and straps with cuts
more than 0.125 inch (3.18 mm)
long.
(f). Replace belts and straps with frays
that are more than 10% of the width
of the belt or strap and are more
than 8 inches (203 mm) long.
(g). Replace a belt or strap that is so
worn that it binds or causes incorrect
operation of the adjust mechanism.
(h). Replace a belt or strap with ultravi
olet (UV) light damage.
NOTE: UV damage can include warps in the
fabric, color fade of the fabric, rigidness, or
deterioration of the fibers.
(i). Replace a belt or strap with an
illegible or missing label.
(3). Examine belts for contamination, dirt,
and stains.
Do not let oil or grease get on
the belts and straps. Petroleum
products can damage the belts and straps.
Do not use methyl ethyl ketone
(cleaning solvent (C420)) or ace
tone (C436) to clean belts and straps. These
solutions can damage the belts and straps.
(a). Clean belts and straps with a mild
detergent, warm water, and a
soft-bristled brush.
Do not dry the belts and straps
in the sun, on or near a radiator,
or with a hot-air dryer. Damage to the fab
ric can occur.
(b). Let air dry.
(c). Replace belts and straps with visible
particles or stains embedded in the
fabric.
(4). Examine all metal components (bolts,
buckles, frames, latches, nuts, releases,
and struts) for corrosion.
(a). No corrosion permitted.
(5). Do a check for correct operation of
buckles, latches, and releases.
(a). No defects permitted.

(1). Examine soft insulation panels for
condition and wear.
(a). Make sure panels are clean and have
no stains, tears, or corrosion on metal
components. For procedures to clean
(ref. CSP-SPM).
NOTE: Repair minor damage to panels with
clear adhesive tape (C714).
Adhesive Paste, Acrylic (C422)
(2). Examine panels and fuselage structure
for missing or loose hook and loop tape
fasteners.
(a). If loose, bond with adhesive paste
(C422).
(3). Make sure interior lights are service
able and electrical connections have no
damage.
