22. Receiver Dehydrator
A. Receiver Dehydrator Removal
(Ref. Figure 408)
The receiver dehydrator must
be replaced each time the com
pressor is removed, or the AC system is
opened. An early failure of the compressor
can occur.
(1). EARLY CONFIG - Remove Access
Panel R210 (ref. Section 53-30-00)
CURRENT CONFIG - Remove Access
Panel L210 (ref. Section 53-30-00)
(2). Evacuate AC system (ref. Section
12-00-00).
(3). EARLY CONFIG - Disconnect tube (7)
and flexible line (5).
CURRENT CONFIG - Disconnect
tubes (6, 8).
(4). Remove adapters (4) and gaskets (3).
(5). Remove clamps (2).
(6). Remove receiver dehydrator (1).
B. Receiver Dehydrator Installation
(Ref. Figure 408)
The receiver dehydrator must
be replaced each time the com
pressor is removed, or the AC system is
opened. An early failure of the compressor
can occur.
(1). Install clamps (2) on bracket (12).
(2). Put receiver dehydrator (1) with clamps
(2) on bracket (12).
(3). Install clamps (2) on receiver dehydra
tor (1).
(a). Torque the captive screws of clamps
(2) 18 in-lb (2.03 Nm).
(4). Install flare gaskets (3) and adapters
(4).
(a). Torque adapters (4) 230 to 260 in-lb
(25.99 to 29.37 Nm).
(5). EARLY CONFIG - Connect flexible
line (5) and tube (7) to adapters (4).
CURRENT CONFIG - Connect tubes
(6, 8) to adapters (4).
(a). Torque captive nuts of flexible line (5)
and tubes (5, 6, 8) 230 to 260 in-lb
(25.99 to 29.37 Nm).
(6). Service AC system (ref. Section
12-00-00).
(7). EARLY CONFIG - Install Access
Panel R210 (ref. Section 53-30-00).
CURRENT CONFIG - Install Access
Panel L210 (ref. Section 53-30-00).
23. Receiver Dehydrator Bracket
A. Bracket Removal
(Ref. Figure 408)
(1). Remove receiver dehydrator (1) (ref.
Procedure 22.A.).
(2). Carefully remove sealant from bracket
(12), washers (9), and screws (10).
(3). Remove screws (10), washers (9), nuts
(11), and bracket (12).
