A. Aft Crosstube
NOTE: This task is typical for both sides of aft
crosstube (1). The internal crosstube surface
can be accessed from either the forward or
aft bolt holes.
(1). Remove sealant from nut (2), flat
washer (3), bolt (4), and countersunk
washer (5).
(2). Remove nut (2), flat washer (3), bolt (4),
and countersunk washer (5) from aft
crosstube (1).
(3). If necessary, assemble the rust protec
tion gun, coupling, and 360° wand.
NOTE: An equivalent alternative tool or
method can be used to apply corrosion inhib
itor (C218).
(4). Insert the lance nozzle of the wand in
the bolt hole.
(5). Push the wand so that the lance nozzle
is at the midpoint of aft crosstube (1).
Corrosion Inhibitor (C218)
(6). Apply corrosion inhibitor (C218) to the
internal surface.
(a). Pull the wand back to the insertion
point at approximately 12 inch/
sec (30.5 cm/sec).
(7). Do steps (2). thru (6). again on the
opposite side.
(8). Let corrosion inhibitor (C218) dry (ref.
the manufacturer instructions).
(9). Install countersunk washers (5), bolts
(4), flat washers (3), and nuts (2).
Sealing Compound (C211)
(10). Environmentally seal all external
mating parts with sealing compound
(C211) (ref. CSP-SPM, Section
20-50-00).
B. Forward Crosstube
NOTE: This task is typical for both sides of the
forward crosstube (6). The internal cross
tube surface can be accessed from either the
forward or aft bolt holes.
(1). Remove sealant from nut (7), flat
washer (8), bolt (9), and countersunk
washer (10).
(2). Remove nut (7), flat washer (8), bolt (9),
and countersunk washer (10) from
forward crosstube (6).
(3). If necessary, assemble the rust protec
tion gun, coupling, and 360° wand.
NOTE: An equivalent alternative tool or
method can be used to apply corrosion inhib
itor (C218).
(4). Insert the lance nozzle of the wand in
the bolt hole.
(5). Push the wand so that the lance nozzle
is at the midpoint of forward crosstube
(6).
(6). Apply corrosion inhibitor (C218) to the
internal surface.
(a). Pull the wand back to the insertion
point at approximately 12 inch/sec
(30.5 cm/sec).
