F. Skid Tube Assembly Inspection
(Ref. Figure 609)
(1). Jack helicopter (ref. Section 07-10-00).
(2). Examine skid tubes (1) for cracks and
dents.
(a). No cracks or dents permitted.
(3). Examine skid tubes (1) for corrosion,
nicks, and scratches in the nonrepair
able area between sections B and C.
(a). No corrosion, nicks, or scratches
permitted.
(4). Examine Section A for corrosion,
nicks, and scratches.
(a). Damage deeper than 0.010 inch
(0.25 mm) not permitted.
(5). Examine Section B for corrosion,
nicks, and scratches.
(a). Damage deeper than 0.010 inch
(0.25 mm) not permitted.
(6). Examine Section C for corrosion,
nicks, and scratches.
(a). Damage deeper than 0.025 inch
(0.64 mm) not permitted.
(7). Examine Section D for corrosion,
nicks, and scratches.
(a). Damage deeper than 0.040 inch
(1.02 mm) not permitted.
(8). Examine skid tubes (1) for missing skid
tube plugs (2).
(a). Replace missing skid tube plugs (2).
(9). Examine skid tube plugs (2) for cracks.
(a). No cracks permitted.
(10). Examine steps (3) or large steps (4) for
corrosion, cracks, loose rivets, and wear.
(a). No corrosion, loose rivets, or wear
permitted.
(11). Examine skid tube abrasion strips (5, 8,
13) to skid tube (1) bolt holes for
damage, deformation, and corrosion.
(a). No damage, deformation, or corrosion
permitted.
(12). Examine abrasion strips (5, 8, 13) for
corrosion, cracks, looseness, and wear.
(a). No corrosion, cracks, looseness, or
wear permitted.
(13). Examine abrasion strips (5, 8, 13) for
missing nuts (12), spacers (11), washers
(6, 10), screws (7, 15), and bolts (9).
(a). Replace missing nuts (12), spacers
(11), washers (6, 10), screws (7, 15),
and bolts (9).
(14). Examine skid tube ground handling for
missing nuts (12), spacers (11), washers
(10), and bolts (9).
(a). Replace missing nuts (12), spacers
(11), washers (10), and bolts (9).
(15). Examine nuts (12), spacers (11),
washers (10), and bolts (9) for corrosion.
(a). No corrosion permitted.
(16). Examine skid tube ground handling
bolt holes for corrosion.
(a). No corrosion permitted.
