EMERGENCY FIRE EXTINGUISHER
MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
1. Description and Operation
A. Emergency Fire Extinguisher
The rotorcraft is equipped with a hand-held
2.5 lb (1.13 kg) fire extinguisher that mounts
on the aft side of the center console. The
extinguisher uses a liquified gas which
discharges Halon 1211 extinguishing agent as
a vapor at a high-nozzle velocity. A pressure
gage on the extinguisher indicates charge,
normal, and overcharge pressures. The green
area indicates normal operating range of 125
psi (862 kPa). The red area indicates
CHARGE or OVERCHARGE.
B. Cabin−Mounted Emergency Fire
Extinguishers
The rotorcraft can have one or two optional
disposable hand-held fire extinguisher(s) that
can be mounted on either the left- or right-
hand side of the cabin. This extinguisher has
no gauge, and discharges 14 oz (0.40 kg) of a
unique blend of Halon 1211-1301 extinguish
ing agent (ref. Section 01-00-00).
