The Delta P indicator indicates when the filter
is to be replaced. A pressure drop across the
dirty filter displaces a piston inside the
indicator releasing the center pop-up. A
thermal lockout prevents a false indication
during low fluid temperature conditions. The
indicator can only be reset after removing the
dirty filter.
The return filter bypass valve provides a
bypass around the filter if the pressure drop
across the filter becomes excessive. It is a
spring-loaded poppet type relief valve.
The pressure transducer is a strain gauge,
bridge type transducer which converts psig to
an electrical signal for cockpit indications.
During a system pressure loss the HYD 1/2
light illuminates on the IIDS and the system
pressures are displayed on the fault line.
The high temperature switch is installed in
the return line to the reservoir. The switch
comes on at approximately 235° F, and off at
approximately 205° F. An overheat condition is
displayed on the IIDS.
The system pressure check valve prevents
reverse flow of hydraulic fluid within the
manifold. The check valve is a removable
cartridge type check valve and is integrated
into a fitting within the manifold.
The system solenoid valve simulates loss of
system pressure for pump compensator
functional checks. When open, the valve short
circuits supply pressure to return, reducing
system pressure to approximately 200 psig.
EARLY CONFIG - The fluid sampling valve
provides for fluid samples to be taken while
the system is fully pressurized. The valve
nozzle is fitted with a protective cap attached
to a security chain.
The quantity indicator provides visual
indication of reservoir fluid quantity. The
indicator has individual FULL and REFILL
marks for fluid level at hot and cold fluid
temperatures.
The GSE isolation valve in the GSE return
port of the manifold separates the GSE return
lines from the hydraulic system. It is a
spring-loaded poppet valve which opens when
200 psig is applied to the GSE pressure port
and resets at a minimum pressure of 80 psig.
C. Distribution System
Stainless steel tubing is used for hydraulic
fluid distribution to reduce corrosion and
damage. Permaswedge fittings help to
minimize the possibility of leakage by reducing
the number of threaded connectors. Clamp
blocks provide spacing of 0.25 in (6.35 mm) for
the tubing to prevent chafing.
Hydraulic hoses are installed at the actuators
to allow freedom of movement during opera
tion. The hoses are sleeved for fire protection
and all threaded fittings are safety wired.
D. GSE Panels
The GSE panel is located on the left side of the
main transmission deck. The panel provides
quick disconnect for ground servicing equip
ment. The panel has a pressure and return
line connected to the manifold/reservoir. The
GSE panel is isolated from the hydraulic
system when not in use.
