(3). Connect sense tube (33).
(4). Install washer (28), screw (29), and nut
(38).
(a). Torque nut (38) 18 to 22 in-lb (2.03
to 2.49 Nm).
(5). Torque the captive nut of sense tube
(33) 60 to 80 in-lb (6.78 to 9.04 Nm).
(6). Torque the captive nut of evaporator
inlet port (27) 150 to 250 in-lb (16.95
to 28.25 Nm).
(7). Install evaporator (15) (ref. Procedure
6.B.).
8. Expansion Valve Strainer (EARLY
CONFIG)
A. Strainer Removal
(Ref. Figure 404)
(1). Disconnect tube (6) from adapter (5).
(2). Remove adapter (5).
(3). Remove strainer (31) and washer (30).
B. Strainer Installation
(Ref. Figure 404)
(1). Install washer (30) and strainer (31).
(2). Install adapter (5).
(a). Torque adapter (5) 230 to 260 in-lb
(25.99 to 29.38 Nm).
(3). Connect tube (6).
(a). Torque the captive nut of tube (6) 230
to 260 in-lb (25.99 to 29.38 Nm).
9. Evaporator Inlet Shroud (EARLY CONFIG)
A. Inlet Shroud Removal
(Ref. Figure 404)
(1). Remove evaporator (15) (ref. Procedure
6.A.).
(2). Remove band clamp (25).
(3). Disconnect duct (21) from inlet shroud
(26).
(4). Remove inlet shroud (26).
B. Inlet Shroud Installation
(Ref. Figure 404)
(1). Put inlet shroud (26) in position.
(2). Connect duct (21) to inlet shroud (26).
(3). Install band clamp (25).
(4). Install evaporator (15) (ref. Procedure
6.B.).
10. Thermostatic Switch (EARLY CONFIG.)
A. Thermostatic Switch Removal
(Ref. Figure 404)
(1). Remove outlet shroud (1) (ref. Proce
dure 5.A.).
(2). Remove nuts (41), screws (39), and
washers (40).
(3). Carefully straighten the temperature
probe as you pull it through grommet
(42).
(4). Remove thermostatic switch (22).
B. Thermostatic Switch Installation
(Ref. Figure 404)
(1). Install thermostatic switch (22) with
screws (39), washers (40), and nuts
(41).
(a). Torque nuts (41) 20 to 25 in-lb (2.26
to 2.82 Nm).
(2). Carefully bend the temperature probe
as shown (ref. Figure 404, Detail C).
(3). Install outlet shroud (1) (ref. Procedure
5.B.).
11. Evaporator Aft Mounting Bracket (EARLY
CONFIG)
A. Bracket Removal
(Ref. Figure 404)
(1). Remove inlet shroud (26) (ref. Proce
dure 9.A.).
(2). Remove screws (8), washers (9), and
bracket (10).
