CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS SCHEDULED INSPECTION
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. General
MDHI has developed these inspection require
ments as the Manufacture-Recommended
Inspection Program in compliance with
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part
91.409(f)(3):
Refer to Section 04-00-00, Airworthiness
Limitations, for scheduled mandatory
replacement times (life limits) of compo
nents and assemblies.
The owner/operator must do the Special
Hourly and Special Calendar Inspections
(ref. Section 05-20-10) in addition to the
Airframe Periodic Inspection Program (ref.
Section 05-20-20) or the Airframe Seg
mented Inspection Program (ref. Section
05-20-50).
Refer to Section 05-50-00, Unscheduled
Inspections, for information on inspections
at other than scheduled frequencies.
The owner/operator is responsible for the
selection of an inspection program, and if
required by regulation, for its approval by the
governing aviation authority.
2. Scheduled Inspections
This section contains requirements for
scheduled inspection. Compliance with the
Rotorcraft Maintenance Manual (RMM)
information is required, and the manual
consulted when using the inspection schedules
for specific maintenance activity or inspection
requirements and procedure.
A. Special Inspection Schedule
The Special Inspection schedules (ref. Section
05-20-10) contain additional hourly and
calendar inspection requirements. The Special
Inspections (Hourly and Calender) must be
complied with at the specified interval from
the previous inspection or initial issuance date
of Airworthiness Certificate for the aircraft.
The Special Inspection — Hourly schedule
identifies the additional inspection require
ments that must be done at the specified
hourly interval.
The Special Inspection — Calendar
schedule identifies the additional inspection
requirements that must be done at the
specified calender interval.
B. Content of Scheduled Inspection
Programs
The Airframe Periodic Inspection Program
(APIP) and the Airframe Segmented Inspec
tion Program (ASIP) meet the scope and task
requirements of FAA FAR Part 43.15 and Part
43, Appendix D.
C. Airframe Periodic Inspection Program
The Airframe Periodic Inspection Program
(APIP) must be completed within twelve (12)
calendar months of the last APIP or initial
issuance date of Airworthiness Certificate for
the helicopter.
NOTE: Review and do the one-year special in
spections the Area Inspections of the APIP.
This inspection can be used when aviation
authority regulations require periodic inspec
tions (for example, an annual or 100-hour
inspection).
D. Airframe Segmented Inspection Program
An operator can use the Airframe Segmented
Inspection Program (ASIP) as an alternative
to the Airframe Periodic Inspection Program.
If the ASIP is used, it must be used in its
entirety.
NOTE: Review and do the one-year special in
spections in conjunction with the Area In
spections in the ASIP.
Routine Inspection — A Routine Inspection
is to be done at one hundred (100) hour
intervals as part of the ASIP.
