7. Operational Tests for the Fuel Distribution
System
(Ref. Figure 605, Figure 606, and Figure 607)
A. Operational Test of the Fuel Booster
Pump
NOTE:
This test is typical for the LH and RH fuel
booster pump. Instructions are written
for LH fuel booster pump.
If the fire-extinguishing system is not
installed, disregard caution relating to
bottle discharge in operational test.
Do not operate booster pump
dry. A minimum of 141 to 151 lb
(22 to 24 US gal / 83.0 to 90.0 L) of fuel
must be in fuel cell.
(1). On the ELECTRICAL MASTER
panel, set the POWER switch to
BAT/EXT.
The FUEL SHUTOFF valve
switch arms the fire-extin
guishing system. Make sure the BOTTLE
DISCHARGE switch is in the OFF posi
tion.
(2). On the FUEL SYSTEM panel, set the
BOTTLE DISCHARGE switch to
OFF.
(3). On the FUEL SYSTEM panel:
(a). Make sure the LEFT and RIGHT
FUEL SHUTOFF switches are both
OFF.
(b). Make sure the L BOOST and R
BOOST switches are OFF.
(c). (900 CONFIG) - Make sure the
CROSS FEED switch is OFF.
Make sure that throttle twist
grips are in NORMAL position
and the ENGINE CONTROL switches are
in the OFF position to prevent accidental
engine start or fire.
(4). On the FUEL SYSTEM panel:
(a). Set the LEFT guarded FUEL
SHUTOFF switch to ON.
(b). Set the L BOOST switch to ON.
(c). The booster pump must operate
audibly.
(5). Make sure that the left engine low fuel
pressure (yellow) segments on the IIDS
display are not illuminated.
NOTE: A row of white segments indicate nor
mal fuel pressure and alternating white and
yellow offset segments indicate low fuel
pressure.
(6). On the FUEL SYSTEM panel:
(a). Set the L BOOST switch to OFF.
(b). Make sure the left engine low fuel
pressure (yellow) segments on the
IIDS display are illuminated.
(7). (900 CONFIG) - Set the CROSS
FEED switch to ON and set the R
BOOST switch to ON.
(a). The booster pump must operate
audibly.
(b). Make sure the left and right engine
low fuel pressure (yellow) segments
on the IIDS display are not illumi
nated.
(8). (900 CONFIG) - On the FUEL
SYSTEM panel:
(a). Set the R BOOST switch and the
CROSS FEED switch to OFF.
(b). Make sure the left and right engine
low fuel pressure (yellow) segments
on the IIDS display are illuminated.
(9). Set the LEFT guarded FUEL SHUT
OFF switch to LEFT OFF.
(10). On ELECTRICAL MASTER panel,
set POWER switch to OFF.
B. Operational Test of the Fuel ShutOff
Valve
NOTE:
This test is typical for LH and RH shut-
off valve.
If the fire-extinguishing system is not
installed, disregard caution relating to
bottle discharge in operational test.
