CABIN COMPARTMENT INTERIOR
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. Equipment / Furnishings General
The standard equipment and furnishings
provide seating for the pilot, copilot, and six
passengers. Each crew and cabin seat is
equipped with a restraint system. The basic
furnishings include interior trim, acoustic
insulation, floor coverings, and other miscella
neous items for furnishing of the helicopter
interior.
The business interior furnishings include
additional soundproofing and upgraded trim
panels for the walls and roof.
2. Cabin Compartment Equipment /
Furnishings
(Ref. Figure 1, Figure 2 and Figure 3)
The cabin compartment includes up to six
energy attenuating cabin seats with restraint
systems. The cabin compartment can be
configured with up to six individual cabin
seats, three forward facing and three aft
facing. The cabin compartment is furnished
with close-out and insulation panels installed
to the walls and roof in the utility version, and
hard roof panels in the commercial and
business versions. The Business cabin interior
(902 CONFIG) also introduces an upgraded
wall panel configuration. Wall soundproofing
was added with the business interior option to
improve cabin comfort. Trim panels are also
installed to both entry doors. The floor area is
covered with carpet material which extends
under the passenger seats. An area light is
installed in the roof at each entry door position
to provide light to the cabin compartment.
Mounted in the roof panels are passenger
service units (commercial/business interior)
providing individually directed vent ducts and
a reading light for each seat position. The
cabin area can be configured in either a
commercial, business or utility version interior.
The cabin compartment is also equipped with
a 28 Vdc utility outlet and headset plug-in
jack.
A. Cabin Seats
(Ref. Figure 1)
The cabin seats are interchangeable, indepen
dently removed and installed without tools.
The seats are nonadjustable, with an energy
attenuating structure and three-point
restraint system.
The cabin seats are located in the cabin
compartment. Each cabin seat support tube
assembly attaches to a pair of seat fittings
that are attached to the cabin compartment
floor and roof structures.
The energy attenuating structure is attached
to the seat support tube assembly. The seat
back and seat bottom assembly is covered with
fabric. The seat back angle is fixed for each
cabin seat at 15 degrees, the seat bottom angle
is fixed at 20 degrees. Each seat bottom folds
up for accommodating cargo without removing
the seat. Each seat back folds forward to aid in
stowing or retrieving baggage.
Incorporated in the seat supports are energy
absorbers that initiate stroking of the seat
when severe vertical loads are applied to the
seat assembly. Because of this feature, No
stowage under seats is allowed. Each cabin
seat has a minimum available stroking
distance of 6.5 inches.
B. Restraint System Cabin Seats
The cabin seats are equipped with either the
early configuration - three-point restraint
system, or the current configuration - four-
point system. Both restraints combine a safety
(lap) belt and a single or double strap shoulder
harness. The lap belt and shoulder straps are
fabricated from polyester webbing with sewn
in buckles and attach fittings.
C. Tie Downs Cabin Compartment
The tie downs are located at various locations
in the cabin compartment flooring. When cabin
seats are in the folded up position, cargo can
be stowed on the floor and secured with the tie
down attachments. When occupied, cargo or
baggage may not be stowed under the cabin
seats at any time, as this may inhibit or
restrict the energy attenuating function of the
seat mechanism.
