6.13 IMAGE FUSING AND PAPER EXIT
6.13.1 OVERVIEW
The fusing unit and paper exit area
consist of the following parts.
1. Paper exit roller
2. Fusing exit sensor
3. Hot roller strippers
4. Pressure roller
5. Pressure spring
6. Fusing lamp
7. Thermistor
8. Hot roller
9. Thermofuse
10. Thermostat
6.13.2 FUSING DRIVE AND RELEASE MECHANISM
The main motor [A] drives the
fusing unit through a gear train
and drives the paper exit rollers
[B] through a timing belt [C].
The fusing unit release
mechanism automatically
disengages the fusing unit drive
gear [D] when the right cover
[E] is opened. This allows the
fusing unit drive gear to rotate
freely so that misfed paper can
easily be removed.
