17-10 REAR SUSPENSION
Extract the damper rod assembly from the shock absorber
body.
Inspect the oil seal and O-rings.
Inspect the damper rod for bends and scratches.
Inspect the “teflon coating metal” on the piston.
Inspect the inner surface of the body for wear.
Replace O-rings with new ones.
Replace the “teflon coating metal” by cutting off the old one
and putting a new one onto the piston if necessary.
REASSEMBLY
Apply rear suspension oil to the O-rings and “teflon coating
metal”.
Insert the damper rod assembly 1 and fit a new circlip 2.
Pull up the damper rod assembly 1 until it is stopped by the
circlip 2.
Fit the stopper to the shock absorber body.
Fill the specified rear suspension oil in the rear shock
absorber. (17-6)
99000-99001-S25: SUZUKI REAR SUSPENSION OIL SS-25
(or equivalent rear suspension oil)
Oil capacity:
Approx. 380 ml (12.84/13.38 US/Imp oz)
Pressure the rear shock absorber unit with nitrogen gas to
981 kPa (9.8 kgf/cm
2
, 139.5 psi). (17-8)
Reassemble the spring and adjust the spring set length.
