DieselExhaustFluid(DEF)isareactantthat’skeytotheSCRprocess.It’sanontoxic,
aqueoussolutionofureaandultra-purewater.Ureaisacompoundofnitrogenthat
turnstoammoniawhenheated.Theuidisnonammable,andisnotdangerouswhen
handledasrecommended.However,itishighlycorrosivetocertainmetals,espically
copperandbrass.ReadtheseparatesectionconcerningthehandlingofDEFsolution.
UseonlyDieselExhaustFluidthatisclearlylabeledasmeetingISO-22241
standards,andcertiedbytheAmericanPetroleumInstitute.Thecontainermust
displaytheAPIcerticationseal.Neveruseagriculturalorindustrialgrade
urea.UseofuidsotherthanAPIcertiedDieselExhaustFluidwillcompromise
aftertreatmentsystemperformance,increaseemissions,andmayimpactyourproduct
warranties.NeverdiluteDEFwithwateroranyotheruid.
ItisrecommendedthatDEFnotbestoredinextremehotorcoldconditions,or
forprolongedperiods.Followtheinstructionsforproperstorageandhandlingas
indicatedonthecontainerorprovidedwiththepurchase.
Note:AgriculturemixturesarenotpureenoughforuseintheSCRsystemand
impuritiesinthesolutionwillcomprisetheSCRsystem.
