6.Whentheenginehasstarted,ittakesawhiletosendlubricatingoiltoallbearings
andshafts,andbetweenpistonsandliners.Waitfortheoilpressuregaugetosettle
atanormallevel,thenbringenginespeedupgradually.Increasespeedasitwarms
up.Checkallgaugesduringwarm-up.
7.Duringwarm-up,applyloadgraduallyuntiltheoiltemperaturereaches60°C
(140°F).Tomovealoadedvehicle,theminimumcoolanttemperaturemustbe
approximately50°C(120°F).
EngineBreak-In
Enginesarerunondynamometersbeforebeingshippedfromthemanufacturer.In
mostapplications,theenginecanbeputtoworkimmediately,buttheoperatorshould
beextraobservantoftheoperatingconditionsshownonthegaugesduringtheinitial
100hoursor5,000km(3,000miles).
Amorefrequentcheckoftheenginecompartmentforuidleaks,uidlevelsand
fastenertightnessisalsorecommendedduringtheinitialperiod.
