POWERSTEERING,GENERAL
TheVNpowersteeringconsistsofanintegratedgear.Thereisalsoapowersteering
pumpwithuidcontainer.Thepump,drivenbytheengine,provideshydraulic
pressuretothepowersteering.Iftheengineisnotworking,thesteeringisonly
manual.Withthepowersteeringnotworking,theeffortrequiredtoturnthesteering
wheelismuchgreaterthanwithpowerassist.Ifthepowersteeringassistfails,bring
thevehicletoasafestop.DONOTdrivethevehicleuntilcorrectingthecauseofthe
problem.
Whileoperatingthevehicle,avoidrutsandobstructionswhichcausebindingcondition
onthesidesofthefrontwheels.Drivethevehicleoutoftherut,thenturnthesteering
wheel.Ifpossible,avoidturningthewheelswhilethevehicleisatastandstillasthis
placesaconsiderableloadonthepowersteeringsystemandfrontaxle.
Periodicallycheckthepowersteeringuidreservoirandkeepitlledtotheproper
