TOWINGPROCEDURE
General
WARNING
Ifavehiclewithairsuspensionislifted
bytherearframemember,thereisa
riskthattheairspringswillseparate
fromthespringplates.Whentowing
hasbeencompleted,DONOTunder
anycircumstancesuseyourhandsto
repositiontheairsprings.Thereisa
greatriskthatyourhandwillbecaught
betweenspringandplatecausing
personalinjury.
WARNING
DONOTtowavehiclebackwards
whenequippedwithroofairfairings.
Thefairingsactasanairscoopand
maybreakoff.Failuretofollowthis
warningmayleadtopersonalinjury
andvehicledamage.
WARNING
Vehicleswithairfairingsaretall.Make
surethatthetotalheightofthevehicle,
whenitisraisedupbehindthewrecker,
doesnotexceedthemaximumallowed
heightforlocalunderpasses.Failure
tofollowthisinstructionmayleadto
personalinjuryandvehicledamage.
CAUTION
Failuretodisconnectthedriveshaft,
removethedriveaxleshaft(s)orlift
thedrivewheelsoffthegroundbefore
towingorpushingthevehicle,can
causeserioustransmissiondamage.
Removethedriveshaftfromtherearaxlebeforemovingthevehicle,unlessitonly
needstobemovedasmalldistanceforsafetyreasons.Whenthetransmissionis
drivenfromtherearwheelswithouttheenginerunning,thereisnolubricationinthe
transmission.
Axleshaftsmustberemovedifthevehicleistobetowedatspeedsover40km/h(25
mph)orforalongdistance.Openingsshouldbecoveredtopreventlossofoiland
entryofdirtandgrit.Whereoil-lubricatedbearingsareused,openingsshouldbe
thoroughlysealedwithmetaldiscsandnewgasketsbeforetowing.
Ifthevehicleistowedwiththedrivewheelsstillincontactwiththeroadsurface,the
vehicleaxleshaftsordrivelinemustberemovedordisconnected.
