Ring gear positioning is necessary
when
any
of
the
following
parts are replaced:
Final gear case
Ring gear bearing housing

Selection steps:
Position the final drive gear and the ring
gear
by
using
shims
CD
and ®
with
their
respective thicknesses calculated
from
information marked on the final gear case
and the drive gear end.

on the final drive pinion gear is either
added
to
or subtracted
from
"80".

= a numeral on
the
final drive gear case

Example:

If
the
final gear case
is
marked
"50"

is 79.50.
"A"
=
80.01
- 79.50
=
0.51
Therefore, final drive gear
shim
thickness
is
0.51
mm
(0.02 in).
Shim
sizes are sup-
plied in the
following
thickness.
