Configuring Basic WX Properties 187
6 In the Software Version list, select the version of Mobility System
Software (MSS) you expect to run on the WX switch.
7 To prevent the WX switch from being managed by 3WXM, click next to
Managed to deselect the option. Management by 3WXM is enabled by
default.
CAUTION: Do not change this option unless advised to do so by 3Com
Technical Support. If you change a WX switch to an unmanaged state in a
network plan, all network operations (polling) stop for that WX switch. If
you change back to a managed state, the entire configuration of the WX
switch is replaced with the settings from the network plan, which can
result in loss of connectivity to the WX switch.
If this option is not selected, select it to enable 3WXM to manage the WX
switch.
8 Select the wiring closet you want 3WXM to place the WX switch in. If no
wiring closets are defined yet or you do not want to place the WX switch
in a closet at this time, select Not Assigned.
9 In the VLAN/IP list, select the VLAN IP address used by the 3WXM client to
connect to the WX.
If required, you can specify a different IP address for communication
between the 3WXM monitoring service and the WX switch. (See
“Selecting WX Switches to Monitor” on page 545.)
For more information about VLANs, see “Configuring VLANs” on
page 188.
10 In the Enable Password box, type the enable password for the WX.
This password must match the enable password that was defined on the
WX switch using the CLI command set enablepass. For more
information, see the Wireless LAN Switch and Controller Configuration
Guide.
The password is encrypted when you type it.
11 Type the name of the WX switch’s configuration file, from 1 to 128
characters with no spaces, in the Configuration File box. This file is stored
in the WX switch’s nonvolatile storage and is automatically loaded after
the WX switch is booted. The default name is Configuration.
12 To specify an MSS software image to download when you deploy
changes to the WX, click Image. The Local Image Selection dialog box
appears.
