If you use dynamic WEP, 802.1X must also be configured on the client in
addition to WEP.
To use static WEP, you must provide WEP keys. You can specify the WEP
keys, as well as the WEP unicast and multicast key indexes to be used.
You can also specify whether shared key authentication is enabled.
If you plan to use static WEP, do not map more than 8 service profiles that
contain static WEP keys to the same radio profile.
To configure WEP:
1 Do one of the following:
■ If you are configuring dynamic WEP, go to step 5.
■ If you are configuring static WEP, go to the next step.
2 To specify a WEP key, type the hexadecimal value of the key in one of the
WEP key boxes.
The WEP key must be a 10-character ASCII string (representing a 5-digit
hexadecimal number) or a 26-character ASCII string (representing a
13-digit hexadecimal number). ASCII characters in the following ranges
are supported: 0 to 9, A to F, a to f.
3 In the WEP Unicast Key Index box, specify the WEP key (1 to 4) to use
when encrypting unicast frames.
For example, if you specified a value in the WEP Key 1 box and want to
use that key when encrypting unicast frames, specify 1 in the WEP
Unicast Key Index box.
4 In the WEP Multicast Key Index box, specify the WEP key (1 to 4) to use
when encrypting multicast/broadcast frames.
For example, if you specified a value in the WEP Key 3 box and want to
use that key when encrypting multicast frames, specify 3 as the WEP
Multicast Key Index box.
5 To send a shared key to clients before the authentication process, select
Shared Key Auth. Enabled. (Generally, this feature does not need to be
enabled.)
6 Do one of the following:
■ If you are configuring a combination of WEP and WPA, go to
“Configuring WPA”.
■ To close the wizard and save the changes, click Finish.
