Uploading a WX Switch Configuration into 3WXM 371
not defined in 3WXM, uploading the WX configuration creates the
Mobility Domain. If no Mobility Domain is specified in the configuration,
the WX is uploaded into the default Mobility Domain.
When you upload a WX configuration, the version of the MSS system
image is preserved. For example, if you upload a configuration for a WX
running MSS Version 3.0, only Version 3.0 features are available for that
WX switch in 3WXM. To use a later MSS version, you must upgrade the
MSS system image before uploading the WX configuration to 3WXM.
3Com recommends that you manage a WX with a version of 3WXM that
supports all the features available in the MSS version running on the WX.
Keep the following in mind when managing WX switches:
Managing — You can manage WX switches running their original
MSS versions with any version of 3WXM. For example, you can use
3WXM Version 3.0 to manage a WX running MSS Version 2.1.
Deploying — If you are using a later version of 3WXM to manage a
WX running an older version of MSS, you cannot successfully deploy a
configuration unless you upgrade the MSS version on the WX. 3Com
recommends that you use the Distribute Images & Configuration
option to upgrade the MSS version and WX configuration in one
process, as described in “Distributing Image and Configuration Files”
on page 393.
After you upgrade the MSS version and WX configuration, you can
deploy a configuration created with a later version of 3WXM. For
example, if you upgrade the WX to MSS Version 3.0, you can deploy a
configuration created in 3WXM Version 2.1.
You can use the CLI to upgrade the MSS version on a WX.
