IP Configuration
By default the AlphaVision ML is set to DHCP, which means it automatically requests and obtains an IP
address, subnetmask and Gateway IP address from the DHCP server of the modem/router. With the
Alphatronics Device Discovery Tool, or with the AlphaTool programming software, the obtained IP address
can easily be found. If required, the system can be set to ‘static IP’. When set to static, the IP address,
subnetmask and Gateway IP address need to be set manually.
DNS settings
From firmware v3.60 and above the 'DNS' option was added. Some Internet providers only work with DHCP
IP addresses (WAN) which make connecting from the outside world (for example using the APP) with the
AlphaVision ML insecure due to changing IP addresses. In order to solve this issue it is possible to use a
dynamic IP address (DynDNS) for the Alpha Vision ML. DYNDNS ensures that the connection between the
dynamic IP address (WAN) of the provider and the Alpha Vision ML panel always exists regardless if the
dynamic IP address (WAN) of the provider changes.
For DYNDNS some general settings are required like the provider, host name, username and password.
General GPRS settings
The submenu General GPRS settings you can program all general settings for the GPRS plug-on dialer. The
following options can be programmed:
Access point APN
User name APN
Password APN
Roaming allowed
SIM card PIN code
GPRS always active
GPRS settings
When using GPRS, several settings need to be set in the control panel, such as the name of the Access Point
(APN), a APN username and a APN password. These settings are different for each provider and need to be
requested from the provider!
Roaming allowed
When required, roaming can be turned on. Default setting it is OFF. With some GSM/GPRS providers,
roaming is required because the provider does not have its own GSM infrastructure but uses the
infrastructure of other providers. Turning roaming on also offers certain risks. In border areas, the system
might log into foreign networks, which might cause high telephone costs. Do not forget to point this out to
your customer! For these types of cases, we advise the use of a provider which does not require roaming.
SIM Card PIN code
Enter the correct PIN code of the SIM card here. If desired, use a regular mobile telephone to modify or
check the SIM card PIN code.
