Input + 8 o.c. module, output AL2 on AlphaVision ML runs concurrently with output 2 on the Input + 8 o.c.
module, output OC3 on the AlphaVision ML runs concurrently with output 3 of the Input + 8 o.c. module
and output OC4 on the AlphaVision ML runs concurrently with output 4 of the Input + 8 o.c. module.
From software V2.04 and higher the open collector outputs 5 to 8 can also be activated.
Detectors being fed by the 0V and 12V terminals on the Input + 8 o.c. module are actually fed through the
RS-485 bus and thus powered via the power supply of the AlphaVision ML control panel. The open collector
(o.c.) outputs are equipped with a 27 ohm resistor. These outputs are intended for example to activate
LEDs. In series with the LED a 1 kOhm resistor should be installed. Theoretically it is possible to use an OC
output to control a relay, the o.c. output has a maximum current drain of 100mA. However, this power to
drive the relay is obtained directly from the RS-485 bus !
By shorting the JP2 pins with a jumper the tamper switch of the Input + 8 o.c. module is bridged. This can be
used when placing the Input + 8 o.c. module in the metal cabinet of the AlphaVision ML or AlphaVision I/O
module including power supply (art.nr. 004312).
►! The address setting of the Input + 8 o.c. module is identical to the I/O module and is different than
the address settings of a keypad, see appendix F “Expansion module address settings”.
►! The Input + 8 o.c. module is powered by the power supply of the control panel. To calculate the
current consumption you must add the current consumption of the Input + 8 o.c. board (58 mA) itself plus
the current consumption of the detectors that are connected to it. It is important not to exceed the
maximum cable length from the power supply because of voltage drop.
►! The Input + 8 o.c. module shown above may not be used in grade 2 installations, for alternatives see
Grade 2 guidelines, page 11.
►! From firmware version 2.0 and higher all o.c. outputs in case of a tamper alarm will only be activated
when the system is armed.
►! From firmware version 3.0 and higher open collector outputs 5 to 8 on the Input + 8 o.c. module can
also be activated.
►! From firmware version 3.2 and higher different EOL resistor values can be used on the AlphaVision
ML. The expansion module must be equipped with minimal eprom version 5.5
Connecting an AlphaVision I/O module including a power supply
The AlphaVision I/O module has its own independent power supply and backup battery. The I/O module
contains a 3A switching power supply and a battery charging device for charging lead-acid batteries. The I/O
module is not powered via the RS-485 bus from the AlphaVision ML.
Set the I/O module to the first free address. See Appendix F "Expansion module address settings" for the
correct address settings. The I/O module provides 8 additional zone inputs (like the Input + 8 o.c. module).
In addition, the I/O module has 9 outputs consisting of two relays (30VDC/750mA), 6 open collector outputs
(100mA max per output) and a loudspeaker (LS) output. The 2 relay outputs (Alarm 1 and Alarm 2), the first
2 open collector (output 3 and 4) outputs and the loudspeaker (LS) output are linked to the outputs on the
AlphaVision ML mainboard. From firmware V2.04 and higher also open collector output 5 to 8 on the I/O
module can be activated.
Control of the relay outputs (Alarm 1 and Alarm 2) and open collector outputs 3 and 4 of the I/O modules
run simultaneously with the activation of the AL1 to OC4 outputs on the AlphaVision ML control panel. So
output AL1 on the AlphaVision ML runs concurrently with Alarm 1 of the I/O module, output AL2 runs
concurrently with Alarm 2 of the I/O module, output OC3 runs concurrently with (open collector) output 3
and output OC4 runs concurrently with (open collector) output 4 of the I/O module.
