Installer manual AlphaVision ML Rev. 3.60 01-01-2015 93
Remote service PSTN/GSM
When remote service is done through the PSTN or GSM line, the option PSTN/GSMdetermines in which
way the control panel picks up the line when it is called. The following options are available:
Single ring-in once
Do not pick up the line (default setting, used when no remote service via PSTN/GSM is
allowed/required) .
Double ring-in
Single Ring-in means that the AlphaVision ML control panel picks up the line right away. Use a computer
with an internal or external modem and the AlphaTool software to establish a connection with the control
panel. After approximately 4 rings the AlphaVision ML will pick up the line and establish a connection.
Double Ring-in means that the control panel will need to be called twice: the first time the line rings 4 times
and is then disconnected. After 20 seconds the AlphaTool software will automatically dial again, and this
time the AlphaVision ML will pick up the line after 4 rings and establish the connection.
Users can also call to the AlphaVision ML control panel to execute certain user actions. Calling from a
(mobile) telephone works similar to setting a modem connection with a computer. When the user wants to
control the system with his telephone, the AlphaVision ML must be equipped with a speech plug-on board
(art.code 004162).
When the connection between telephone and AlphaVision ML is established, the AlphaVision ML will ask to
enter a valid user code. When a valid user code is entered, the House ID speech text will be played to
confirm the connection. The user can now execute functions (arm/disarm, etc.) and start a listen-in session
if the system is also equipped with a keypad with integrated speakers and microphone. For more
explanation of the available functions, see chapter ‘Alarm reporting to a private or mobile telephone’.
Remote connection via IP(LAN)
When remote service is done through a IP(LAN) connection it is possible to initiate the connection from the
computer with AlphaTool or to initiate the connection from the AlphaVision ML control panel. The second
option is especially useful when the customer uses dynamic (DHCP) WAN IP addresses and/or to avoid port
forwarding in the modem/router. The following options are available:
Connect via IP
Remote IP address
Remote port
The Connect via IP submenu determines whether a remote IP(LAN) connection with the AlphaVision ML is
permitted. The remote IP address and remote port are the necessary settings of the computer/laptop used
installer company, these settings are needed when initiating the IP(LAN) connection by the AlphaVision ML
control panel. In the AlphaTool ‘Connect screen the installer must select either that the connection is
initiated by AlphaTool (IP ALPHATOOL-> ML) or by the control panel (ML -> ALPHATOOL IP).
When the AlphaVision ML control panel is approached from a computer (with AlphaTool) from an internal
network (LAN) only the Remote Service’ option needs to be set to ON. If the AlphaVision ML is approached
from a computer with AlphaTool outside the network (WAN) then it is necessary to program the
appropriate firewall settings and port forwarding in the modem/router to which the AlphaVision ML is
connected.
