13.6 CONFIGURATION / DIGITAL
IN/OUTPUTS
There are 4 digital input / output terminals DIO 1
to DIO 4.
The digital output function is connected to the
terminal via a diode which is sho wn in the block.
When the output is low then the diode is reverse
biased and the terminal may be taken high if
desired. Note. The PL/X must be stopped in order to implement a DIO X OP MODE change.
13.6.1 DIGIT AL IN/OUTPUTS / DIO X SETUP
PINs used 271 to 294.
By selecting DISABLED in 271)DIO OP MODE
windo w, the output switch is permanently open,
and the terminal behaves as a digital input only.
The digital output processing function may still be
used internally even though the output s witch is
open.
By selecting EN ABLED in 271)DIO OP M ODE
windo w, the output switch is permanently closed,
and the terminal behaves as a digital output. The
input function still operates and may be used to
monitor the terminal state at any time. See 3.4.2
Digital inputs and outputs, and 7.5.2 DIGIT AL IO
MO NIT OR / DIP1 to 4 and DIO 1 to 4 digital input

For systems involving multiple units with digital
outputs wi red in OR’d mode, the input function
can be used to monitor when the last OR’d output
turns off.
