The RS232 PORT1 is a standard product feature providing a daisy chain fast data facility without need for a
host (REFERENCE EXCH ANGE). Or an ASCII comms proprietary multi-drop link using ANSI-X 3.28-2.5-B I
protocol. A full description of the ASCII comms facility can be found in the SERIAL C O MMs manual.
The RS232 PORT1 is used for configuration with PL PILO T, and archiving recipes via windo ws hyperterminal.
PL/X units with 5.01 up ward softw are versions can support proprietary fieldbus applications. This requires
extra hard w are in the shape of :-
a) Mounting board for FIELDBUS card. (part no. LA 102738)
b) FIELDBUS card. (e.g. Profibus, Devicenet)
The above components are incorporated within the unit and plugged onto the PL/X control card.
There is a sub-menu in the CO NFIGURATIONS menu that allo ws configuration of the parameters to be input
and output by the PL/X. See 13.12 C ONFIGURATION / FIELDBUS C ONFIG.
A full description of the FIELDBUS facility can be found in the SERIAL CO MMs manual.
