1.5 Lockout and tagout the RF generator
1.5.1 General
WARNING
Before lockout/tagout procedures, always wait minimum three minutes
after AC power is removed for stored voltage to disappear.
Safety note 13: Warning - lockout/tagout
Prior to performing maintenance, repair or any other service operation upon the hardware
to which this generator supplies RF power, lockout/tagout the RF generator according to
the following guidelines. A customer's supplied lockout/tagout device must be accessible.
The shut-down procedure is different for air- and water-cooled models.
The air-cooled generators only have a simple rocker switch which cannot be
locked.
The user must provide lockout and tagout on the system power source.
The water-cooled generators have a lockout/tagout capable mains switch that
allows the installation of a padlock for lockout.
This system must be accessible to the user or maintenance personnel in the case the
Synertia® RF generator must be serviced.
WARNING
The lockout device must be kept in place until the service operation is
completed and the system is ready to be powered up and to be operated.
Safety note 14: Warning - lockout device
1.5.2 Shut down air-cooled model
lf an air-cooled model, shut off the rocker switch on the back. This is not lockable. Thus,
you must provide lockout/tagout in an appropriate manner on the system-side power
source. This may entail placing a lockable plastic "boot" over the power cable after
removal.
