6.3 Warning and alarm messages
6.3.1 Difference between warning and alarm messages
In case of a malfunction, the generator issues a warning or an alarm message, depending
on the severity. Warning and alarm messages can be retrieved by a host system via any of
the digital interfaces.
Warning messages are mainly for information purposes. They indicate an
abnormal state or condition that does not require immediate shut-off of the RF
output power. The generator keeps delivering RF output power while a warning
message is present.
Warning messages are shown including their status. They do not disappear
automatically when the corresponding cause is revoked, so that the user can
retrieve the information when needed.
Alarm messages indicate a more severe state, condition or malfunction. When an
alarm occurs, the generator's RF output power is shut off immediately.
Alarm messages must be cleared manually by the user after the issue has been
resolved. Only those alarm messages that are marked with a “revoked” state can
be cleared. All alarm messages must be cleared before RF output can be turned
on again.
6.3.2 ID of warning or alarm messages
The ID of warning or alarm messages is useful to find the description in a separate
document. Some warning and alarm messages are followed by additional information,
e. g. a certain parameter number, which makes it easier to locate the root cause for the
message. These messages can be issued during normal operation.
In some cases, however, software warning and alarm messages can also be caused by
defective hardware. In this unlikely event, note the number of the warning or alarm
message and contact technical support.
