The NetIron supports all the forwarding modules supported by the BigIron. The NetIron requires the Management
IV module, described in Management IV Module on page 9-6.
For added flexibility, the NetIron is configured at the factory to boot IP-only system software (flash code) by
default. However, the standard version of the Layer 3 Switch software, which adds AppleTalk and IPX support, is
loaded into secondary flash. In addition, the Management IV modules PCMCIA flash card (see the following
section) contains the IP-only, standard Layer 3 Switch, and Layer 2 Switch software, allowing you to deploy the
NetIron in a wide variety of networking environments.
The software features are the same as those supported on the BigIron Layer 3 Switch, IP-only, and switch images.
For feature information, see the rest of this guide and the following documents:
Foundry Switch and Router Command Line Interface Reference provides a list and syntax information for
all the switch and router CLI commands.
Foundry Diagnostic Guide provides descriptions of diagnostic commands that can help you diagnose and
solve issues on Layer 2 and Layer 3 Switches.
