7 Anti-collision thickness tracer
7.1 General remarks
The anti-collision thickness tracer is a tool used to measure the thickness of the piece at the start
of the machining operation, and then to check and automatically adjust the distance between the
cutting head and the piece surface in order to ensure safety and precision during the cutting
operation. It is installed on the working head.
The anti-collision function of the thickness tracer unit (optional) is a safety and prevention device
that can block the system to avoid collisions between the cutting head and the piece (or any cut
residues). The anti-collision system is an active, multi-directional sensor assembled directly on the
thickness tracer unit.
7.2 Use
It intervenes automatically during the machining operation cycles, according to the type of
configuration required for the current program.
For information about the use of the anti-collision thickness tracer, refer to paragraph 3.6 “Machine
operation”.
