3.3. Introduction Lorrca® MaxSis
The Lorrca® MaxSis is a new version of the earlier released Lorca (Laser-assisted Optical
Rotational Cell Analyzer). The Lorrca® MaxSis (Lorrca® hereafter) combines Red Blood Cell
(RBC) deformability by ektacytometry, osmoscan and aggregometry; all temperature controlled. It
is capable of fully automated measurement and calculation of various phenomena of RBC’s by
analysis of their rheological behaviour.
3.3.1. Intended use
The Lorrca® MaxSis is intended for the following measurements on human and veterinary blood
samples:
Red Blood Cell Deformability
Laser diffraction ektacytometry
Relaxation rate
Parametrization of deformation curve
Cell Stability test
Cell Membrane Stability
Red Blood Cell Deformability under various osmotic conditions (Osmoscan)
Osmotic resistance
Red Blood Cell Aggregation
Cell aggregation (kinetics, tendency)
Syllectometry (back-scatter)Disclaimers:
Until otherwise labelled, the Lorrca® MaxSis is NOT released by the manufacturer as an in-vitro
diagnostic medical device (IVD).
Until otherwise published, the Lorrca® MaxSis is NOT validated by the manufacturer for any diagnostic or
therapeutic purposes.
The manufacturer does not accept liability for any consequences arising from the use of the Lorrca®
MaxSis for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
Note:
The manufacturer encourages researches who have developed or investigated any possible
diagnostic or therapeutic applications for the Lorrca® MaxSis, to contact the manufacturer in order
to establish and validate the Lorrca® MaxSis as an IVD for these applications.
