Laser aperture
"CAUTION – USE OF CONTROLS OR ADJUSTMENTS OR PERFORMANCE OF PROCEDURES
OTHER THAN THOSE SPECIFIED HEREIN MAY RESULT IN HAZARDOUS RADIATION EXPOSURE"
A Class 3R laser is considered to be safe if handled carefully, with restricted beam viewing.
EYE INJURY HAZARD -- DIRECT AND REFLECTED BEAM
Do NOT deliberately look into or stare into the beam this can cause injury to the retina.
Be aware of beam reflections off glass and shiny surfaces. Depending on the surface, the reflected beam
could be about as strong and as focused as a direct beam.
The Nominal Ocular Hazard Distance (NOHD) for the applied laser is ~15 centimeter.
The likely closest distance of approach is >20 centimeter (the minimum distance for the eye at which the
laser can be clearly focused on the retina)
4.4. Bio Safety bob assembly
The bob assembly has a combined sign to for laser safety, bio hazard and temperature restrictions.
See for all bio hazard safety instructions chapter Bio safety Standard Operating Procedures
