ENGINE OIL
INSPECTION / TEST
1. Engine Oil System Inspection
NOTE: If you think a part is unserviceable,
speak to MDHI Field Service Department
for more instructions.
(1). Visually inspect for chafed, deterio
rated, cut, frayed or cracked hoses.
None allowed.
(2). Visually inspect for chafed, cracked,
dented, nicked or scratched tubes. None
allowed.
(3). Inspect for security of installation.
Torque hoses or tubes and safety with
lockwire as required.
(4). Inspect for security of hardware. Torque
or replace loose or missing clamps or
hardware.
(5). Visually inspect wire harness.
(a). Inspect wire harness for chafing or
cuts. None allowed.
(b). Inspect electrical connectors for
security. Tighten and/or safety
electrical connectors.
(c). Inspect wire harness for security of
hardware. Torque or replace loose or
missing clamps or hardware.
2. Engine Oil Pressure Adjustment
NOTE: This task is typical for left or right hand
engine.
(1). Service engine oil system (Ref. Section
12-00-00).
Ground Operations
(2). Perform Engine Run-up per current
Rotorcraft Flight Manual (Ref. Section
01-00-00, Table 201).
NOTE: Perform oil pressure adjustment on
only one engine at a time.
(a). Operate engine at IDLE for 5 min,
monitor all engine parameters.
Record oil temperature, oil pressure,
exhaust gas temperature and outside
air temperature.
(b). Visually check all external oil lines
for leaks. Correct leaks as required.
(c). Switch engine to FLY, let engine
stabilize at 100% Np for 2 min.
(d). Rotate twist grip on collective to
obtain 77 - 78% Ng speed on engine.
Verify EEC/MAN is displayed on
IIDS.
The twist grip on collective is
now the only input governing
Np.
(e). Block engine oil cooler inlet screen
enough to obtain an oil temperature
of 79 - 855C. Maintain temperature
for a minimum of 5 min.
NOTE: It may be necessary to block the gap be
tween the oil cooler inlet duct and inside of
forward fairing support assembly to obtain
required oil temperature with cool ambient
temperatures (Ref. 53-30-00 and
63-21-00).
(f). Monitor and record engine oil pres
sure and oil temperature as dis
played on IIDS. Verify oil pressure is
90 - 95% psi.
(g). Adjust oil pressure as necessary,
refer to Pratt & Whitney Engine
Maintenance Manual (Ref. Directives
and Related Manufacturers' Publica
tions, Section 01-00-00) for adjust
ment procedures.
(h). Reset EEC and rotate twist grip back
to NORMAL. Verify EEC/MAN is no
longer displayed on IIDS.
(i). Switch engine back to IDLE.
(j). Remove blockage from inlet screen.
(k). Perform Engine Shutdown (Ref.
CSP-900RFM-1, Section IV).
