Aexibleducttsbetweentheaircleanerlidandthe
turbochargersecuredusingwormdriveclamps.Aduct,
securedwithtwospringassistedwormdriveclampstoensure
acompleteseal,connectstheturbochargertotheintercooler
pipe,whichrunsalongthelowerfrontoftheenginebay
securedtothefrontsubframeusingtwobolts.Aduct
connectsthepipetotheintercooler,againusingtwospring
assistedwormdriveclamps.Theintercoolerislocatedatthe
frontoftheenginebaytomaximiseairow.Itismountedto
theradiatorontwolugsandsecuredwithtwobolts.Aduct
connectstheoutletoftheintercoolertotheETBsecured
usingwormdriveclamps.AT emperatureManifoldAbsolute
Pressure
TMAPsensoristtedintotheduct.
InletManifold-1.8T
Theinletmanifoldisaonepieceplasticmouldingwhichis
securedtothecylinderheadusingsevenstudswithnuts.
Fourrubbermouldedgaskets,locatedinrecessesintheinlet
manifoldmountingface,sealsthemanifoldtothecylinder
head.
Theinletmanifoldfeaturesavacuumtake-offpointforthe
brakeservoandaconnectionforthepurgevalveandcamshaft
coverintotheinletmanifoldbreatherpipeandaconnection
pointfortherecirculatingvalvetoinletmanifoldpipe.
Thefuelrailattachestotheinletmanifoldusingtwobolts
andhasfourportshousingtheinjectors.Thefuelinjectors
aresealedtotheinletmanifoldwithO-ringsandretainedin
positionbythefuelrail.
TheETBisttedtotheLHendoftheinletmanifoldandis
securedwithfourboltsandsealedwithanO-ring.
AT emperatureManifoldAbsolutePressure
TMAPsensoris
ttedonthetopofthemanifoldontheRHsideandsealed
withanO-ring.
ExhaustManifold-1.8T
Theexhaustmanifoldisofcaststainlesssteelconstruction.
Fourseparatebranches,onefromeachexhaustport,are
weldedtoaangesecuredtothecylinderheadusingseven
studswithnuts.Ametalcorrugatedgasketsealstheexhaust
manifoldtothecylinderhead.Theturbochargerinletangeis
securedtotheexhaustmanifoldangeusingfourstudswith
nutssealedwithametalgasket.
Theturbochargeroutletangemateswiththefrontpipeange
andissecuredusingthreestudswithnutsandissealedwitha
metalgasket.Aexiblejointincorporatedintothefrontpipe
connectsthefrontpipetotheexhaustsystemusingathree
boltange.Fourboltssecurethefrontpipetotheengine
sump.
AnHO2Sisttedinthefrontpipeupstreamofthecatalytic
converter.
ExhaustSystem-1.8T
Atwopiece,stainlesssteelfabricatedexhaustsystemistted
incorporatingacatalyticconverterandtwosilencers.An
HO2Sistteddownstreamofthesecondcatalyticconverter.
Adjacentpipeassembliesaresecuredtogetherusingstuds
andnutswithgasketsinstalledbetweenjointfaces.Thetail
pipeassemblyisconnectedusingaslipjointandsecuredwith
aspotweldedclamp.Fiverubbermountings,thefronttwo
aresiliconerubber,securetheexhaustsystemtothebody
toallowslightexhaustmovementinsulatingthebodyfrom
vibrations.Heatshieldsarettedtoinsulatethebodyfrom
hightemperatures.Thetailpipesarettedwithtwinstainless
steelnishers.
