Description
General
TheBCM,incorporatingthepassengercompartmentfusebox,
islocatedbehindthegloveboxonthevehiclebulkheadsecured
withtwobolts.TheBCMcomprisesamicroprocessor
withlowpowermodeandaashmemory,anElectrically
ErasableProgrammableRead-OnlyMemory(EEPROM),CAN
transceivers,aLINtransceiverandapowersupply.
TheBCMisresponsibleforanumberoffunctionsonthe
vehicleandinteractswithothermajorelectricalsystemsusing
theMSandHSCANBusesandminorelectricalsystems
usingtheLINBusconnections.TheBCMisresponsible
forthepowerdistributionsystemtomanyvehicleelectrical
components.
UsingtheHSCAN,theBCMreceivesinformationfromand
interactswiththefollowingvehiclefeatures:
•ECM
•TCU
•SRSECU
•ABS/DSCECU.
•TheABS/DSCECUisconnectedtotheSASandyawrate
sensorusingalocalHSCAN.
UsingtheMSCAN,theBCMreceivesinformationfromand
interactswiththefollowingvehiclefeatures:
•Instrumentpackincludingallgaugesandwarning
indicators
•ATCECU
•ESCLECU
•ESCLECUisconnectedviatheLINBustotheESCL
•ICEandnavigationunit
UsingtheLINBus,theBCMreceivesinformationfromand
interactswiththefollowingvehiclefeatures:
•DDSP
•MLS
•MFC
•PDCECU
•Rainsensor
•Steeringwheelswitches
•ETCECU
Inaddition,theBCMcontrolstheoperationof,andstores
informationforthefollowingancillarysystems:
•Batteryvoltage
TheBCMreceivesthealternatorloadstatus.Thisis
publishedontheCANforalternatorloadmanagement
purposes.
•Vehicleodometer
TheBCMstoresthevehicleodometerreading(uptoa
maximumof999999km).Theinstrumentpackdisplays
thelatestmaximumreading.Oncestored,itisnot
possibletoamendtheodometerreading
•VehicleIdenticationNumber(VIN)storage
TheVINisstoredintheBCM.Itisnotpossibletoamend
theVINoncethevehiclehasreachedapresetmileage.
•Vehiclecongurationinformation
TheBCMstoresvehiclecongurationinformation.The
vehiclecongurationcodecontainsinformationabout
thevehicleconstruction,includingwhichoptionsare
tted.
•Serviceintervaldisplay
TheBCMstorestheserviceintervaldatafordisplayin
theinstrumentpack.
•Diagnosticcodedata
TheBCMperformsself-diagnosticcheckswhenthe
ignitionisonandstoresanyerrorsdetectedinthe
EEPROMasdiagnostictroublecodes.Errorswithinthe
CAN&LINBusesarealsostored.
