2.17 Calculating Power Requirements
1. Using Table 1, calculate the total number of milliamps (mA) required by each device, module, and
accessory in the system. Please take into account devices connected to the control panels PGM outputs.
Since the
BELL output has its own power supply, do not include the sirens connected to it in the calculation.
2. If Grand Total is less than 700mA, go to step 3. If the value is greater, an external power supply is required to
provide the additional power needed. Proceed with step 3 .
3. Due to the degradation of a power signal over long distances, EACH length or run of wire in the system can
support only a specific number of milliamps (mA). Using Table 2, determine how many milliamps each
length of wire can support. Please note that the total number of milliamps (mA) can never surpass 700mA.
