• Posterize — adjusts the luminance and chrominance
ranges of the image.
• Defocus — adds a horizontal and vertical blur to the
image on the channel.
• Strobe — alternates between freezing and playing
the live video of the channel.
To Apply the Colorize Effect to a Key
The Colorize effect replaces the existing colors in the
image with the varying shades of the selected color.
1. Navigate to the DVE menus for the DVE key you
want to apply a preprocessor effect to and press DVE
Menu > Preprocessor.
2. Press Colorize to select the effect.
3. Use the Hue and Saturation knobs to select the
color you want to use.
• Hue — select the color you want to use.
• Saturation — select the lightness of the color
you want to use.
4. Press Colorize again to toggle the effect On or Off.
To Apply the Defocus Effect to a Key
The Defocus effect adds a horizontal and vertical blur to
the image on the channel.
1. Navigate to the DVE menus for the DVE key you
want to apply a preprocessor effect to and press DVE
Menu > Preprocessor.
2. Press Defocus to select the effect.
3. Use the Horiz., Vert., and Both knobs to select the
amount of defocus you want to use.
• Horiz. — select the amount of horizontal
defocus you want to use.
• Vert. — select the amount of vertical defocus
you want to use.
• Both — adjust both the horizontal and vertical
defocus at the same time.
4. Press Defocus again to toggle the effect On or Off.
To Apply the Mosaic Effect to a Key
The Mosaic effect transforms the image into an
arrangement of tiles. The size of the tiles can be adjusted
both horizontally and vertically.
1. Navigate to the DVE menus for the DVE key you
want to apply a preprocessor effect to and press DVE
Menu > Preprocessor.
2. Press Mosaic to select the effect.
3. Use the Horiz. Tiles and Vert. Tiles and Both
knobs to adjust the size of the tiles.
• Horiz. Tiles — adjust the horizontal size, in
pixels, of the tiles.
• Vert. Tiles — adjust the vertical size, in pixels,
of the tiles.
• Both — adjust both the horizontal and vertical
size, in pixels, of the tiles.
4. Press Mosaic again to toggle the effect On or Off.
To Apply the Posterize Effect to a Key
The Posterize effect adjusts the luminance and
chrominance ranges of the image.
1. Navigate to the DVE menus for the DVE key you
want to apply a preprocessor effect to and press DVE
Menu > Preprocessor.
2. Press Posterize to select the effect.
3. Use the Luma and Chroma and Both knobs to
select the color range you want to use.
• Luma — adjust the luminance range that you
want to use.
• Chroma — adjust the chrominance range you
want to use.
• Both — adjust both the luminance and
chrominance ranges at the same time.
4. Press Posterize again to toggle the effect On or
Off.
To Apply the Strobe Effect to a Key
The Strobe effect alternates between freezing and playing
the live video of the channel. There are three strobe
generators that can be used to apply a serialized strobe
to create various pulldown effects.
1. Navigate to the DVE menus for the DVE key you
want to apply a preprocessor effect to and press DVE
Menu > Preprocessor.
2. Press Strobe to select the effect.
3. Press Strobe 1, Strobe 2, or Strobe 3 for the
strobe you want to set up. The strobe values are
applied in series starting with strobe 1.
4. Press Frame, Field 1, or Field 2 to select how the
strobe is applied.
Note: If the switcher is operating in a progressive video
format the field 1 and 2 selection are not available.
• Frame — strobe is applied to the entire frame
of video.
• Field 1 — strobe is only applied to the rst eld
of video.
• Field 2 — strobe is only applied to the second
eld of video.
