position when a modem is optioned. Figure 2.11 shows the location of jumper
J7 on the auxiliary communication board.

The SEL-734 optional internal modem complies with Part 68 of the FCC
Rules and Regulations. The SEL-734 has a label that contains the FCC
Registration Number and Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) of the modem.
You must, upon request, provide this information to your telephone company.
The REN is useful in determining the quantity of devices you can connect to a
telephone line and still have all of these devices ring when the number is
called. In most areas, the sum of the RENs of all devices connected to one line
